Responsibilities

Your Role: 

As the Assistant Human Resources Manager, you will report to the HR Manager and will be responsible for managing employee relations, recruiting, training, and employee development. We embrace and accept individual experiences and backgrounds to achieve a diverse and inclusive workplace. 

 

You will have the opportunity to: 

  • Provide functional & operational Human Resources guidance. 

  • Support the HR Manager in planning, organizing, and controlling the activities of the Human Resources Department. 

  • Responsible for staying current of all company policies and utilizing HR resources, both electronic and corporate support resources. 

  • Ensure consistent application of corrective action for violations of company policies and standards of conduct across the facility. 

  • Coordinate with department managers to assess hiring needs and ensure proper staffing levels. 

  • Assist and support the hiring process of new employees and ensure that employment decisions follow company policy and employment laws. 

  • Serve as a functional resource for the employee base, ensuring their understanding and compliance with benefits, policies, regulations, and contractual obligations. 

  • Assist and support employee relations efforts, working closely with the HR manager to develop & implement business aligned HR initiatives that promote effective employee and management relations. 

 

Ultimately, you will serve as a valuable resource and advocate for employees and will recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to support continual improvement. Qualifications

We need you to have: 

  • BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or related field. 

  • 4+ years of progressive experience as an HR Generalist in a unionized manufacturing plant environment. 

  • Prior management experience combined with a proven track record of developing, coaching, and mentoring direct reports. 

  • Prior experience conducting employee investigations. 

  • Excellent capabilities in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook. 

  • Knowledge of applicable state, federal, and local employment and labor laws and regulations. 

  • Knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics-based HR management. 

 

Icing on the cake: 

  • MBA or other advanced degree. 

  • PHR or SPHR certification. 

  • Knowledge of manufacturing practices. 

  • Experience with ADP.

Role is eligible for 10% annual incentive provided the business meets financial goals and the individual meets their performance goals, subject to plan administration guidelines.
