We are searching for a Lead Production Supervisor to join our team located at our manufacturing facility in Louisville, KY. 

Responsibilities

Your Role:

 

The Lead Production Supervisor will lead, coach and mentor the Production Supervisors and supervise unionized production employees in the Separating & Material Handler Department. The Lead Production Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring the Production Supervisors follow and administer company policies as well as perform their supervisory duties including time-card data entries, time and attendance reporting, overtime administration as well as employee coaching.  This position will need to be flexible on shifts and days as support is needed.

  • Responsible for the Separating (heavy industrial areas) and Material Handling Department including safety, quality, production and housekeeping.
  • Manage four production supervisors with oversight of approximately 80 hourly employees.
  • Manage safety of the department to ensure that the department is the safest area in the plant and that plant safety goals are met.
  • Identify quality issues and resolve root cause.
  • Ensure production rates in department are met.
  • Oversee effective training with support from the training supervisors for the respective departments.
  • Reduce department costs.
  • Actively participate and ensure departmental participation in the Boundless System to achieve the above listed expectations for Safety, Quality, Production and Cost.
  • Approve maintenance activities while continuing to support the production needs of the boxing departments.
  • Ensure the department is meeting target accuracy goals and completion rate of the weekly inventory cycle counts; manage warehouse and ensure accuracy of inventory and shipping counts
  • Answer 1st step labor grievances in a timely manner.
  • Manage weekly/daily scheduling of employees to ensure all required equipment is covered including overtime and weekend schedules.
  • Fill in for the department superintendent or shift supervisors as necessary.
  • In locations where applicable, responsible to comply with the SQF and GMP practices and programs to ensure safe food packaging product and to report food safety problems to those with authority to take action.

Qualifications

We need you to have:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of related professional and progressive manufacturing experience.
  • Union experience is required.
  • Prior team management experience combined with a proven track record of developing, coaching and mentoring a diverse staff.
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.
  • Must be team oriented with the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams.

Icing on the cake:

 

  • BA/BS degree in Operations Management, Business, or related field.
  • SAP experience is preferred.
